We love supporting surf art and photography and our featured artist for this years Festival is ultra keen body surfer Jack MacRae.
Support him by following his work @shred_hardy and buying one if you can. He might be super famous one day and you can say you got in early.
Having spent several years residing in Fingal Head, NSW, and exploring the East Coast of Australia, Jack MacRae is heavily influenced by the form, colour and beauty of Australian landscapes and the coastline.
Coming from a background in Architecture, MacRae carried many notions of design through to his artistic developments. With an interest in varying architectural and design theories such as minimalism, abstraction and colour field painting. He breaks down the australian landscape into coloured segments.
Due to architectural design being heavily process driven and exploratory, MacRae originally worked with coloured paper to create hand-cut collages of landscapes and other abstract forms. These collages can then be recreated and painted in larger formats. Painting and collage is a way for MacRae create and explore more.
